The exhibition will be mounted with the launch of the technology handbook, (Basic) Secrets of Clay, to be published by the Benyamini Center, written by Eti Goren, to be released in July or August of this year as part of the 10-year celebrations of the Center.

Making in clay is loaded with technology including chemical processes, manipulation of materials, dexterity, tools, heating and cooling and many other elements. Making in clay is a long and winding path that depends on the laws of physics and chemistry as well as a series of technological actions with intermediate stages and only the correct combination will lead to the desired outcome.  It requires expertise and experience and understanding of material processes with a high level of ability and knowledge of technology.

The exhibition Al-Chemia will try to expose the beauty of the process that did not succeed technologically.  The works in the exhibition will present the failures exposing the inherent poetic beauty of these works showing interesting results from mistakes and technological problems that occurred in any one of the stages of making: from the raw clay stage through firing and glazing.
