Masterclass with Jason Hartsoe / Residency Program

Friday, 14.4.23  at 11:30

Participants: Jason Hartsoe, Ronen Yamin and Shelly Shavit

Jason Hartsoe will be a guest at the Benyamini Center for a three week residency as part of a cultural exchange project with the Penland School of Craft following a reciprocal visit of two lecturers from the Benyamini center, Ronen Yamin and Shelly Shavit. In the masterclass he will talk about his works as well as the Penland School of Craft.  Following this Shelly Shavit and Ronen Yamin will relate their experiences during their visit to Penland.

Jason in his works explores not only the forms themselves but also the traditional methods used to make them.  His ceramic education was attained through the process of apprenticeship and working closely with master potters, beginning in Japan and continuing through England and the USA.  This slow education allowed for an organic training and development of an eye for form and instructed the hand in how to respond to the material.

* Entrance is free and open to the general public, advance registration required
