Sunday 12/11/23, 20:00 – Zoom Lecture Eti Goren

Lecturer: Eti Goren

Sitting at the wheel or at the table, many of us are drawn to making with clay. Besides the initial technical difficulties as we begin the creative process, we confront qualities such as form, technique, decoration, and function. The partners in our process are earth, water, and fire. Water and fire are obvious but what is earth? What is the clay that we receive ready prepared and packed in a plastic bag? The lecture will deal with these questions and relate specifically to local materials.

Eti Goren is a potter and teacher of pottery and ceramic technology. She is the author of (Basic) Secrets of Clay | Ceramic Technology published by the Benyamini Center. She holds a BA in Art history from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem and studied ceramics at the Sir John Cass School of Art, City of London Polytechnic. She lives and works in Tel Aviv.
