Carlotta Fantozzi and Veronica Fabozzo / August 2023
Arriving towards the end of August, Carlotta Fantozzi and Veronica Fabozzo from Montelupo, will be hosted by the Benyamini School of Ceramic Art where they will work for about two weeks. Toward the end of their visit, we will host a Master Class open to the general public. The guest artists from Montelupo will talk about their work, give a demonstration of majolica decoration, and the Israeli ceramists will talk about their visit to Montelupo.
In addition we will host a special event for children (date to be decided), a workshop titled “Pinocchio. Between fantasy and reality” based on the famous Italian story by Carlo Callodi.
The artist residency and cultural exchange program is promoted by the AiCC (Association of Italian Ceramic Cities) and began with the collaboration between the Municipality of Faenza under the direction of Massimo Isola, and the Benyamini Contemporary Ceramics Center in Tel Aviv in 2019 when we hosted two artists from Faenza and two artists from the Benyamini teaching staff did a residency in Faenza with the aim of promoting the exchange of professional experiences between different cultural identities.
The cooperation with Montelupo Fiorentino is the next step to involve new ceramic cities in the project. In June 2023, two artists from the Benyamini team, Eti Goren and Raya Stern, were hosted in Montelupo by the Montelupo Museum of Ceramics, the Experimental Ceramics Center of Montelupo, and the network of companies, artisans and artists who are part of the Montelupo Ceramics Road Association. During their stay they also participated in Ceramica Off, the Montelupo Fiorentino ceramics festival.
