Why Clay?

Clay has forever documented the evolution of the human race. Ceramic shards have been preserved from the earliest antiquity till today. Shards remain everywhere, despite their brittle character, their colors are preserved, and the fired clay doesn’t melt and cannot be recycled. It’s a cheap material, accessible and unpretentious.

Clay has always been in our vicinity and probably will surely stay after us.

The ability to surpass time attracted me to use clay as my main creative material and as a basis for the messages I wish to convey.

What do I want to convey?

I am a narrative ceramic artist. I tell stories through my work. The drawing of images onto the three dimensional sculpture provides me with a visual language that allows me to communicate with the spectator without words. I am trying to provoke thought and reflection. My work has a critical dimension and I am conveying through it a social message.

What characterizes my work process?

I work intuitively; the story I want to tell emerges and builds itself along the work process without any sketches. I research the subject, start to work and let the process guide me till the work is finished.

My tools of choice… Can’t create without them:

I don’t have any special one

Absolutely necessary in my working environment

Quiet and privacy
