Heart, 2019

copper, textile,embroidery thread, enamel

The work Heart vacillates between the personal and the social. Following a creative journey that began with a physical sensitivity in the heart, Ebraheem turned to engage in a formal, material and spiritual study of her cultural heritage and its unique forms, colors, symbols and aesthetics. This work builds on traditional Bedouin embroidery and its symbols to create a special “talisman” for women, ornamented with newly developed motifs representing growth, fertility, and the protection of emotions and of the chest area.
