Galit Krupik

Four Point Five Billion, 2021

Nickel silver and ready-made from the Aqueduct beach in Caesarea

The work on display calls to mind an opulent choker composed of rare and precious materials. Beneath them, however, are elements made of industrial, synthetic debris found in the surroundings of Krupik’s childhood environment. The smooth edges of the glass pieces reveal that they were collected on the seashore alongside waste originating in synthetic packaging, in a gesture at once accepting of and protesting against ongoing ecological damage.
