About the exhibition:

The cultural, economical and technological conditions are continually changing. Over the past years, as a result of the changes and the subsequent questions, there is a trend to redefine the function of the designer and the unlimited design processes as a result of new technologies. Another aspect is the critical view of basic and accepted tenets in design and re-examining their meaning. The exhibition Design Underground notes dissatisfaction, the start of a resistance and essential questions that concern designers and active makers in the design field. These questions deal with work processes and the complex relationship between designer-maker-customer, the contribution of new technologies to new thinking, and the possibility of critical examination of material culture from the view point of a designer. In addition, the various projects question the economic relationship, sustainability of materials, accessibility of production and design methods, and criticism of objects and cultural trends through visual material.
