2021: Ori Shifrin Anavi

Graduate of Shenkar Academy of Art and Design

Name of the project: Vanishing Act

The video ” Vanishing Act” describes the creation of a series of three installation objects as performance while considering material, movement, form, space and sound. It raises questions about design and manufacture process through performance, craft and documentation, as a material, visual and conceptual expression of process and making, where it begins and where it ends, if at all and the place and purpose of the designer in society.  The main installation is a combination of 300 plastic Keter chairs donated by the company.  This monobloc chair is an icon of design and culture which Uri investigated over a year using other materials as well that are related to the industrial world of design and manufacture processes.
