“Above and Below the Surface” – Theoretical Program 2025–2026

The lecture series covers a broad understanding of the history of both local and international ceramics, providing a cultural and historical foundation for creative practice. Its aim is to offer a comprehensive learning experience that combines theory and practice, traditional and contemporary, local and international within the field of ceramics.

This year, the program will include a variety of lectures by archaeologists, curators, and scholars of art and craft, covering a wide range of subjects: prehistoric ceramics, ancient pigments on pottery, the history of porcelain, Shōji Hamada and the revival of Japanese ceramics, Armenian pottery in Jerusalem, and the early development of Israeli ceramics. The program will also feature lectures and demonstrations by contemporary artists.
