Code(sh) | Lena Dubinsky

Crosses engraved by pilgrims and clergy on the stones of the Old City of Jerusalem were 3D scanned. The digital models were processed with a special algorithm developed by the artist Dylan Brams to make a tool for the artist and compare visual expressive elements made by humanity. The crosses that were collected are evidence of generations of believers who visited the site and left their mark.  The large variety can be viewed as autographical signs and as a model of the human body.  The selection of engraved crosses continues previous projects of Dubinsky that dealt with signs left by builders on the stones of Cathedrals and measuring tools from ancient times based on body measurements.
