Residency

The project offers up to 9 international artists a residency in a professionally equipped ceramics studio within nine different institutions or academies in Israel. It culminates in an exhibition at the Benyamini Center followed by an international colloquium in which the selected artists and scholars will participate. The symposium aims to harness the dynamism of the individual voices and facilitate dialogue while engaging with a larger audience. The participants come from different personal and national experiences of colonial and post-colonial history.  Social issues are embodied in their work.

As a result of this artistic event, it is our aim to develop a debate about ceramics and material culture in our region.  In these difficult times, we seek to see ceramics as a relevant medium that enables us to discuss social and contemporary issues as a bridge to a multi-cultural perception.
