About Design

2014 Graduate Exhibition \ Bezalel Academy graduate program in industrial design

Gallery Talk – Saturday 28/2/15 at 12:00 with the curators and the artists

The “About Design” program is pleased to announce the opening of its graduate exhibition that will take place on February 19th, at the Benyamini Center for Contemporary Ceramics in Tel-Aviv. On this occasion, the 8 new graduates of the program will display their final projects, and the 2014 year book catalogue will be launched.

In an era when the real and the virtual are used alternately and simultaneously in the creative process, the exhibition explores 8 variations of instrument modification, be it instruments for production, for thinking and designing, for observation or for everyday use. The interdisciplinary nature of these projects is apparent in the use of hybridization to modify and change, as each project brings together ideas and methods from various fields. Avi Orr combines a literary genre with architectural space in his biographical city plans. May Ksirrer combines digital production methods with hand crafting to create hybrid materials. Dana Ben-Shalom develops a collection of interactive objects derived from the term “transitional objects”. Rami Tariff brings together culture and sub-culture in household implements.

The continuing cooperation between the Bezalel graduate program and Benyamini Center started last year, with the exhibition “Up(to)date”, featuring selected student and graduate work from 2013.
