Maud Friedland came to Israel in 1950 after she completed her art studies at the Art Academy in Bucharest, Beaux Arts in Paris and ceramic studies in Vienna. The artist monograph will be launched at the opening of the exhibition. Maud was an artist in all her being characterized by an authentic and free spirit making her a unique voice in the history of Israeli ceramics.
She removed herself from the characteristic decorative ceramics which was typical of her time. She was a charismatic figure as a person-artist-teacher. Freedom and perfectionism, originality resting on tradition and on in-depth experimentation, all of which characterize the works of Maud Friedland I have also found in the works of Yael Atzmony.
