About the Project
The vessels are made from recycled clay, carrying with them traces of their own identity and past. The Nerikomi segments hint at the journey the material has undergone. Clay that may once have been another vessel takes shape anew, becoming a metaphor for human potential. Although we are all made of the same substance—like shades of a single element, each of us reveals sparks of individuality that emerge like small fragments of our true selves, just as the recycled clay exposes its history through the new layers it receives.
This transformation mirrors the human process of growth. Just as the clay experiences breaking, joining, and reshaping, so too must we confront change—often accompanied by pain and difficulty. I create to experience and grow through this process, seeking to discover and express my true identity.
