From pre-historic times until today there is an uninterrupted, ﬂourishing ceramic industry in China. In the course we will explore the Han, Tang and Song dynasties, and examine the inﬂuence of the Silk Road on Chinese culture and the ceramic capitol Jingdezhen from which kaolin and porcelain were exported to the West. Students will make pots inspired by this culture using traditional glazes and surfaces.
Wheel throwing experience required.
