The immanent connection between the Benyamini Center
and Kiryat Hamelacha
where it is situated is the main axis for the two exhibitions, The Society for Craft Rehabilitation in Tel Aviv-Jaffa
(Roy Fabian and Amir Weiser) and Molding Objects, Objects that make Objects
(Studio Reddish). The Benyamini Center which includes a ceramic studio, a ceramic art school, library and gallery embodies the border between making and design, making and observing, industry and art. These exhibitions are based on the desire to make the grey area – the area where these fields are considered separate – into a productive and rich field of research, art, design and industry. The exhibitions provide a multi layered view on Kiryat Hamelacha on the macro and micro levels. The macro points to the economic and social conditions that lead to the establishment of this light industrial area, the modernist, brutalist architecture and its industrial-material character. The micro view examines the objects that make objects in industry, with a poetic understanding of the complex object that facilitates making short and medium size series.

at 21:00 '' Same World Trio'' , trialogue between three plastic artists expressed in unexpected musical notes based on covers for well known songs: Pesach Slobosky, Gabi Krichli, Avi Sabah
In this exhibition, Roy Fabian and Amir Weiser create a lyrical installation that deals with the architectural history of Kiryat Hamelacha as well the productive-material aspects. The exhibition includes sculptural elements; one is an assemblage of the design, form and materials of the architecture. The second element is a type of gazebo made of archival documentation of the Kirya. An additional elemant is a vantage point overlooking Kiryat Hamelacha. The artists transform the gallery space situated on the edge of the Kirya into an integral part of it through their artistic language as well as making the Benyamini Center into an “exhibition factory”. Is it possible to bridge the difference?

The exhibition brings molding objects to the front of the stage and expose how objects are brought into the world. These manufacturing tools – objects that make objects – were collected from home industries, workshops, factories, artists and artisans from around the country. In the exhibition, for a short period, they become objects to be observed; to stall and consider the poetic beauty and wisdom that is hidden in the process. An array of about 40 objects are laid side by side on pedestals or hung on the wall, with various shapes and materials. They have defined functions which are not always apparent at first glance. The outline of the musical instruments is easily distinguished as well as the stainless steel mold with its numerous indentations because of the household version, but what is a dirty rectangle doing on the wall or a basket? Each displayed object is a mysterious object.
