Ceramic design is based on industrial processes that developed from the time of the industrial revolution until the present. The method of reproduction based on models and plaster casting moulds has become increasingly popular and is used in many design studios. Many industrial designers are active in the ceramic design field which enables them personal expression within the industrial world of mass production. The Spanish designer, Jaime Hayon is an excellent example; his humorous and highly individual designs are produced industrially as design projects for large companies.
The Benyamini Center offers workshops in ceramic design and plaster modeling and casting with the aim of extending the scope of expression for ceramic artists and to create a bridge between ancient and traditional techniques and contemporary industrial methods.
